On the early hours of Saturday...Yared Asmerom [wrongly pronounced by the british commentator,Brendan as AZmeroN] was making the move of his life...yet again another Eritrean hero in the making!
He finished the world championship marathon[26miles] in 4Th place in 2:17:41 following a Swiss[3] a Qatar[2] and a Kenyan[1]...ahead of great names who did not even cross the lines at all!
Incidentally his name was not highlighted and gave hiwinnet the impression that Eritrea did not have an athlete running in this sector...
and Yared Asmerom trained with Zeresenay tadese in Spain leading up to today's great great run of his life!....one advice the commentator had was he may not have to run [sprint] early in the race too soon..!
As an Eritrean it was good to see Yared bit the Japanese star who was hoping to shock past every body and get a medal, but the way the Swiss took advantage of the race was un fare.
Japan took the Gold medal for the championship cup [the number of runners from each country get their marks added and their country gets a medal].
The ever great competition to Kenya and the rest of the world, Ethiopia is never to be seen in the the stadium, and was even over taken by Korea for the team [country] medal!
And the commentator [Brit.] forgot to mention that the greatest athletes of our time are coming from Eritrea!
Watch out for Zeresenay on the 10,000 run on Monday 27/08/2007
Victory to Eritrean Athletes [Awet N Atheltat Eritrea]
Congratulations to Eritreans[Yohana Ni hizbi Eritrea]
Eternal glory to our martyrs [Zelealemawi Zikri ni Swuatna]
Hiwinnet!
